WHAT'S NEW

.
What is a perfect night’s/day’s viewing for the insomniac. I can tell you, because I just watched it.

Movie marathon extraordinaire:
Let me recommend that sequence to anyone seeking to avoid work, sleep or family.

From the inbox, Jennifer L  Armstrong  of Free Online Novels, author of The Unlikely Association of Meg and Harry, Last King of Damascus and Dreaming in Arabic, [among others],  pointed me toward Bibilotastic.com.

Bibliotastic. – like You Tube for ebooks - is a new directory of ebooks from independent authors, hosting files in PDF, EPUB and PRC for Kindle.

From their pages:

“The bibliotastic team is spread across Europe, North America and Asia. Our goal is to create and operate the premier source for free, contemporary, ebooks on the web.

We provide a great platform for new and evolving authors to reach a wide audience and for readers to give them direct feedback.

We understand the mainstream publishing business, and the 'trial by rejection' process that confronts new authors. Bibliotastic.com smashes the barriers for writers to get their work published. And we give readers a voice.

Bibliotastic.com gathers useful stats that authors can use to demonstrate the popularity of their work. This can help when they pitch their manuscript to agents and publishing houses.

Contributing to bibliotastic is easy. Just fill in and submit the author submission form and we will do the rest. Your ebook will be up and running in a few days. After that, it’s up to the readers to be the judge and give you feedback. “

The site looks nice and clear, the submission process is straightforward and there is an opportunity to receive editorial ratings, and to give and receive reader ratings and reviews. Also, the team is quick to help with the publishing process, offering sound advice and hands-on support.

There is also a selection of non-fiction work available.

I also visited Dream Fantastic. Alexander Hollins is developing a site for hosting webfiction and associated art forms. New writers and artists, or those who would rather be creating than wrestling with code, could benefit from contacting Alex to discuss his plans and their options.

In his words:

“We all dream.  We all struggle with telling others the wonder we find, in our dreams.  It drives us to write, to draw, to paint, to sculpt, to create music and plays, to tell stories and sing songs.  You have found a place to share in the dreams of those who have found a wonder to show.  Dream Fantastic is dedicated to bringing you those dreams and wonders.

Most of our works are in the form of serial novels, often referred to as Blooks or webnovels.  Choose “Stories” from the right hand menu to browse from our many works available.

Many other categories are still a work in progress. If something is empty, no one has chosen to share with us yet.  Perhaps you can be the first?  If you have an interest in sharing your dream through us, please click here for more details.

We can always be contacted with any questions at Editor@DreamFantastic.com

Already onboard are:

Liz is a survivor, one of the few, of the zombie apocalypse. A teenager who just recently was a cheerleader, dating the Quarterback, and doing everything right, finds herself in a world where everything is wrong. Another survivor, Anna, lived just long enough to give birth to a daughter, before dying in childbirth, leaving the young Liz to care for and raise a baby in a harsh world where death could come at any moment.
Zombie Diapers is a free serial novel hosted on Dream Fantastic.

This is a story of a changed world, of the works of man in conflict with the works of nature. Of humans who have become more than human, and humans that have become less. It is the story of Tom, an Arizona native who left as a child after an earthquake severed California from the mainland, and created an ocean view in central Arizona. In the year 2125 Tom, now an adult, returns to Phoenix and finds that past is even closer at hand then he thought.

Sanity. Where does it end and reality begin? For David Sturmbridge, this is a question with no answer. In the blink of an eye, his world has changed from order to chaos, and he seems to be the only one to notice.

A M Harte’s Hungry For You is going like a train. If you haven’t read your copy yet, it’s time you did.

“There is no greater drug than relationships; there is no sweeter death than love.”

Love is horrible. It’s ruthless, messy, mind-altering, and raw. It takes no prisoners. It chews you up and spits you out and leaves you for dead. Love is, you could say, very much like a zombie.

In this haunting short story collection, anything is possible—a dying musician turns to tea for inspiration; a police sergeant struggles with a very unusual victim; a young wife is trapped in a house hiding unimaginable evil….

With Hungry For You, A.M. Harte explores the disturbing and delightful in an anthology that unearths the thin boundary between love and death.

Reviews

Interesting, quirky, imaginative . . . impossible to put down once you’ve started.
— N.M. Martinez on Smashwords

Breathes new life into [zombies] . . . This anthology introduces you to various images of passion and love in a world that is dark and foreboding. The question remains: will love or the horror prevail in the end?
— Heather Faville on Doubleshot Reviews

There is a lot to like in this collection . . . I love that it explores some new angles, and blends two things you might not think to bring together as the focus point for a collection: love and zombies. A really entertaining read.
— J.C. Hart on Just Cassie

I had fun seeing very creative explorations of the zombie theme . . . a very pleasant and even surprising reading. The opening poem, by Gabriel Gadfly, and the final one, by the author, are another highlight of the book. Overall, it’s a recommend.
— Mari Juniper on Mari’s Randomities

The first story, Promises, is a solid step into a world where love persists — or is perverted — beyond death, and I’m looking forward to reading through the rest.

If you haven’t joined yet, you are missing a great source of free independent fiction in all genres.

And don’t forget Protagonize for a fun read, or – if you are feeling creative – fun collaborative writing project.

Just because I despise facebook, doesn’t mean everyone else does. Apparently. Authors, look into the ‘Pages’ function to create free advertising space for your fiction. Readers, look for your favourite stories on fb, and you can connect with other readers and authors. Go to it. Yay. Enthusi.... No. Can’t manage it.

But it works!  Just go to Account – [top right], Help Centre, fb Apps and Features, Pages for Business.  Easy to set up and administer, and a super-easy way to connect fans with authors.

That’ll do pig. That’ll do.

And remember - no, actually, don't. It's MUCH easier that way.
